| After their shock victory in the competition last year the CZECH REPUBLIC returned, with the same pairing, and proved it was no fluke this season! Petr Marko and Tibor Nemecek picked up 3 maximum heat wins and 3 shared heats to finish well clear of the field and make it back-to-back titles. Behind them on the rostrum were DENMARK, with both Leon Jeppesen and Kenni Algreen scoring 10 points from the 20 the Danes picked up as they made it 3 rostrum finishes in a row, having taken the bronze medal in the previous 2 seasons. CANADA completed the rostrum places, their first top 3 finish in the competition, with Jean-Marc Struthers scoring 11 and reserve Carter Fortin proving a key rider as he added 7 points from 4 races. |
| Former champions Norway and England finished just outside the top 3, Ostenstad started well and scored 11 but he faded and his partner failed to hit double figures. Surprisingly neither English rider contributed double figure scores and they just couldn't seem to find any consistency despite always looking like they were in the running for a medal at the very least. The other pairings never threatened the top 3 with hosts Latvia failing to provide enough backing for top man Izotov and the USA not able to provide a heat winner until their final race when a maximum against Norway proved too little, too late. |
