| WORLD UNDER 21 FINAL |
| Young Englishman FRANKIE YOUNG added his name to the illustrious list of World Under 21 Champions with a near dominant display in the final. He dropped just a single point, in his third ride, but his early wins meant he kept a joint share of the lead and he then remained unbeaten to win by 2 clear margin. South Africa's Andre Hayward rode steadily throughout to finish 2nd with 12 points as the opposition dropped points. 2018 champion Marcus Jay and American Leon Westfall, the only rider to beat the eventual champion, both ended with pointless rides but had scored 10 each to mean a run-off would be required for the final rostrum place, with Jay winning the decider. For 15 of the 16 rider field this was there last season at Under 21 level with only Henrijs Birkerts (19) eligible for the competition next season, the teenager had an eventful meeting with 2 scoreless rides, a couple of exclusions but perhaps his final race win will give him confidence he can return and challenge for the crown next time around. |
